Tempo lifestyle screening

The first step of the Tempo wellness programme is your Tempo Lifestyle Screening. For your convenience the lifestyle screening is available for completion via the Tempo portal on the Bestmed App.

The lifestyle screening intended for beneficiaries 16 years and older and includes: the Bestmed Tempo lifestyle questionnaire; a blood pressure check, cholesterol check, glucose check, as well as a height and weight checks.

Every member of your family (16 years and older) gets one (1) Tempo Lifestyle Screening per year and needs to complete their screening once a year. Benefits are allocated for each benefit year (1 January to 31 December), and do not carry over to the following year.

All Tempo benefits form part of the preventative care benefits offered by Bestmed and are paid from Scheme risk. Members should not pay any of the Tempo network pharmacies or other providers upfront when completing the Tempo Lifestyle Screening and the nutrition and/or physical wellbeing consultations. The Scheme will pay the claim based on the relevant benefit codes submitted by the relevant provider(s).

How the Tempo lifestyle screening works

The steps of the screening process are:
  1. You answer a lifestyle questionnaire
We’ll ask you some questions to get a baseline understanding of your current physical wellbeing and nutrition habits and routines.
  2. You go for your biometric screening
A nurse will measure your blood pressure, height, weight, glucose and cholesterol

The nurse will then upload your screening onto our portal, and you will receive your individual report via email from Bestmed.
  3. You get your individual Tempo report via email
The completed screening will give you an overview of your health status and guide you in terms of which areas require focus to improve your health. Once you have received your individual report, your wellness authorisation is activated and you are welcome to contact the Tempo partner dietitians and/or biokineticists to schedule your appointments.

Should you choose to make use of the Tempo physical wellbeing and/or nutrition benefits, the results will also be shared with our Tempo partner biokineticists and dietitians automatically.
