Bestmed’s Tempo wellness programme gives you the tools you need to live your best life. Our Fitness, Nutrition, and Emotional Wellbeing Journeys are all designed with you in mind. 

No points systems, no tiers. Just the benefits you need to enable you to be who you want to be. It’s the seamless support system that fits perfectly into your life.

Best of all, your family members* also have access to Tempo benefits at no additional cost to you. Tempo is available to all members, regardless of your selected benefit option. 

Tempo supports you on your journey to improving your health and realising the rewards that come with it. 

If reaping the rewards of improved health is what you’re looking for, here’s what we have in store:

  • A Health Assessment (HA)* intended for beneficiaries 16 years and older and includes: the Bestmed Tempo lifestyle questionnaire; a blood pressure check, cholesterol check, glucose check, as well as a height, weight, and circumference check.
  • Emotional wellbeing support services and benefits.
  • Nutrition and Fitness programmes.
  • All Tempo wellness journeys are available online, so you have control of your fitness, nutrition and mental wellbeing from the convenience of your preferred mobile device.
  • The existing Tempo benefits (assessment, biokineticist and dietitian consultations) are still available to those members who prefer the personal service rendered by the Tempo providers, or you can combine the face-to-face consultations with the online journeys.  The choice is yours. 

*Bestmed members’ dependants only. 
*The HA needs to be done at a contracted pharmacy (Dis-Chem, Clicks or Van Heerdens), on-site at participating employer groups, or online in the Health Assessment tab via the Fitness and Nutrition Journeys.

Fitness Journey

That’s why the Bestmed Tempo wellness programme offers you a comprehensive Fitness Journey. It’s your tailored track to a happier, healthier you.

Log exercises, join classes, take part in challenges, or set your own, all at no cost to you. It’s everything you’ve been looking for in a fitness programme.

You can start your online Fitness Journey via the Bestmed App and/or Member portal (website) which will provide you with the platform to:

  • Set personal goals.
  • Track your exercise (by syncing with your fitness device).
  • Participate in challenges.
  • Access Tempo On-demand exercise classes.
  • Access a library of health and wellness topics.

Beneficiaries still have access to one (1) face-to-face and a follow-up (face-to-face or virtual) consultation with Tempo partner biokineticists for fitness assessments and personalised exercise plans.

Third party involvement and data sharing

Bestmed Medical Scheme declares that the lifestyle questionnaire was compiled by, our legally contracted third-party supplier, Wellness 360. The personal information you share as part of your voluntary participation in the nutritional- and/or fitness journeys, will be captured on the suppliers’ system (Wellness 360) and then shared with us (Bestmed) to save on our operational system for future use and/or to measure annual progress. Your information will also be shared with our contracted Tempo wellness service providers to assist you with your nutritional- and/or fitness progress. The Scheme will not share your data it with anyone other than the contracted third-party supplier (Wellness 360) and the Tempo service providers by means of your voluntary participation in the journey(s), and the supplier and Tempo service providers will not share your data with any other parties.

Limitations of service

The advice and information you obtain during the nutritional and/or fitness journeys, by means of your voluntary participation in these journeys, will be provided to you via two channels, namely the Bestmed App and a website developed by third-party suppliers (Wellness 360 and Tempo service providers) who the Scheme has legally contracted with. The advice and information provided by the programme (via the supplier) should not be regarded as medical treatment and should not replace or be regarded as more accurate and relevant than any medical advice that you received from your medical practitioners.

Emotional Wellbeing Journey

Self-care is self-preservation. And when the road gets tough, and you don’t feel like you’re enough, the Tempo Emotional Wellbeing Journey is here to help.

The Emotional Wellbeing Journey was developed by qualified psychologists and healthcare providers. They’ll help you to identify and manage your emotions and the effect they have on your mental health. It’s the first and most crucial step on a journey to the life you love.

The Emotional Wellbeing Journey is available online via the Bestmed App or Member portal on the Bestmed website, and provides you with access to:

  • Lifestyle related information that will help you deal with life’s changes and curveballs.
  • Practical challenges that will enable you to practice the new skills you have to acquire to progress from your current emotional and mental state to your desired state.

Emotional Wellbeing Journey benefits (via the Bestmed App and website):

  • Two questionnaires that assess whether the participant experiences symptoms of depression and/or anxiety (for beneficiaries 21 years and older).
