Life is filled with ups and downs we can’t control. These challenges can take every bit of you to overcome, all taking a toll on your mental health. When exacerbated by the difficulties of modern life, the challenges, and difficulties we face can lead to anxiety and depression.

Millions of people worldwide battle anxiety and depression every day. Despite the prevalence of these conditions, they often remain shrouded in silence and stigma. According to the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), 1 in 3 South Africans have, or will have a mental health issue at some point in their life, and that 1 in 4 university students had been diagnosed with depression.

Addressing these issues and providing a safe space for people to seek help and support is essential.

That’s why we are proud to announce that the Tempo Emotional Wellbeing-related Assessments are now available via the Tempo Emotional Wellbeing Journey. The Journey is accessible via the Bestmed App and/or Member portal (website).

Taking the first step towards emotional wellness doesn’t have to be done alone.

The first step - Assessments

Our Emotional Wellbeing-related Assessments can help you gain insight into your current mental and emotional state. Often recognising and acknowledging the struggles you face is the first step toward finding the support you need. These Assessments are exclusively available to Bestmed members and beneficiaries aged 21 years and older.

Seek help

Should the results of the Assessments indicate that you are experiencing the symptoms of anxiety or depression, we recommend that you urgently consult with a qualified healthcare provider, such as a GP or psychologist. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. The product brochure for your chosen medical aid option will specify your benefits in terms of psychiatric and counselling services and support.

The path to emotional wellness begins starts by summoning the courage that lives inside you to seek help when you need it. Take advantage of our Emotional Wellbeing-related Assessments today and embark on a journey towards a healthier, happier you.

For immediate assistance, you can also call the South African Depression and Anxiety Group’s (SADAG) 24-hour helpline at 0800 567 567. SADAG offers compassionate and confidential support, providing a lifeline to those in need.
